Allison Stamey Recipient of Good Neighbor Award

LEWISVILLE, TEXAS – Lewisville High School Student Activity Director Ms. Allison Stamey has been recognized as the August 2018 Good Neighbor of the Month. The award is presented by Loving Community a Dallas-Fort Worth based neighborhood advocacy group. The monthly honor is given to individuals or organizations who exemplify an outstanding neighboring spirit and involvement in their local community.

In her twenty-fourth year at Lewisville High School, Ms. Stamey describes herself as a “Proud Fighting Farmer” and “enjoying every moment working at LHS”. In her expansive role of overseeing student activities she works alongside other educators with the goal of developing student leadership skills. Of her many “favorites” is her work with Student Council and as Senior Class Advisor. One thing is certain, if it involves students and doing good, you’ll find Ms. Stamey square in the middle of things!

Most recently she played a key role in developing the LISD “Be Kind” emphasis #LISDBEKIND for the five district high schools. And in typical and humble Ms. Stamey fashion, as 900 energized students packed the LHS Auditorium for the kickoff convocation, she was not on stage, however in the back, behind the scenes ensuring smooth logistics and empowering others to shine.

Her serving spirit now spanning 24 years, perennially launches “student good will ambassadors” all throughout the community and beyond. As an example this week 200 plus Student Council juniors and seniors will be deployed as mentors and readers to elementary students all throughout the district. Work is already underway for the annual LISD Angel Tree, serving 1,000 deserving children.

With a deeply held faith and value of others, Ms. Stamey is a champion for all students and especially the underdog. She works tirelessly to make sure every student has the opportunity to fully enjoy and benefit from their high school years. She is a much loved faculty member who maintains ties with students long beyond their Farmer days. Is it any wonder she has over 3,200 FaceBook friends!

Jim Mustain, Executive Director of Loving Community says of Ms. Stamey, “When we first launched our non-profit in 2014, we conducted a community assessment and a series of interviews with community shareholders. Hands down Ms. Stamey’s name came up time and again as a person to meet and the nerve center of much good in the community — so we did!” Now Loving Community and LHS have a strong partnership in numerous ways for the benefit of the community.

Ms. Stamey is from Natchitoches, Louisiana and a graduate of the University of North Texas with a degree in Business and Office Education. She also attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She holds certifications as a Student Leadership Trainer and in Peer Mediation.

Her husband Robert is a teacher with LISD. She has two sons Stephen and Michael who are graduates of Lewisville High School and her youngest son Matthew is a current senior at LHS. Following in his mother’s footsteps he is involved in a host of volunteering and leadership activities.

Loving Community’s Good Neighbor award is sponsored by Gaylene Anders of Ebby Halliday Realtors in honor of Ebby Halliday Acers who consistently modeled her life on the principle of “Do something for someone every day.”
