Love Does — BEING the Church on Back to School Day
Today was a day filled with both tears and cheers! It was back to school day for most kids in Texas. Plenty of nerves and excitement marked the day. The first day of school is a BIG deal!
Truth is, kids are a pretty BIG deal! Jesus set the bar high all the way back at the Jerusalem Elementary School (Mascot The Disciples) 🙂 OK, I made up that second part!
But here’s my point. Kids are a BIG deal, and YES, Jesus did say THAT often in the Gospels. So the question is, “Are they a BIG deal to us — Jesus followers and the Church?”
What would it look like if every community, could count on every church, to take an interest in every child?
One Community. One Church. One Child.
This fall Loving Community is launching this hope filled effort that in every community, that every church, would take an interest in every child. What good could happen in our communities, and schools, and children if they were welcomed, and mentored, and loved, and supported by those who follow Jesus, the first friend and mentor to children.
Today at Durham Middle School a group of Jesus followers, together through Loving Community, we’re happy conduits of God’s love through smiles, and greetings, and Jolly Ranchers. Great fun!
We believe God has lots of cool plans for schools in our community this year. Want to be part of
