Grateful Graduations — A season of endings and new beginnings

Babes-v2-11Today at Babe’s Chicken Dinner House, “the feed will be on” for a group of wide eyed and hungry Rockbrook Elementary 4th & 5th grade boys! We’ll be celebrating their graduation as part of the Boys2Men mentoring/leadership program. None of them have ever been to Babe’s (a Texas tradition) OR for the most part had a man to help speak into their journey toward manhood. It will be a special lunch!

I am grateful to have been on the graduation circuit of recent weeks via the mentoring work of Loving Community. The month of May traditionally signals milestone accomplishments and as well a change of stages of life. With each completion and ending comes the promise of a new beginning, moving forward.

IMG_0807To me this is exciting and how I think God has wired the universe to work. With every sunset comes a sunrise. With every winter comes a spring. As the tide rolls out, it inevitably returns. God is a god of new beginnings and I for one am glad for this!

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” ~ Lamentations 3:22-23

Soaking up the goodness of May graduations and celebrations, I am grateful to work along aside the amazing volunteers of Loving Community, being a part of relationally building in to the lives of children, teenagers, single parents, refugees, and men and women.

So hats off to all of our volunteers and mentors and coaches who:

  • Modeled manhood via Boys2Men
  • Tutored 7th graders in Operation Success
  • Mentored high school students in Lead Forward
  • Helped children read as part of Rockbrook Reading Initiative
  • Trained to be civic and business leaders in Leadership Lewisville
  • And were practitioners in helping men and women to live as missionaries where they’re already doing life in Forge Dallas residency.

IMG_5210Thank you! Your investment has and will help in bringing a little heaven to earth.

And for all of our graduates, we love you and now say, go and change the world!

Congratulations,

Jim
