Golfers Doing Good — Recipients of Good Neighbor Award

LEWISVILLE, TEXAS – A group of Coppell based “golfers doing good” have been chosen as the December 2017 good neighbors of the month, an award presented by Loving Community a local neighborhood advocacy group.

So the question is can you partner a sport that you love, in this case golf, with a passion for helping others, in this case providing Christmas gifts for underprivileged kids? Lee Tanner, the organizer and unofficial spokesperson for a group of longtime friends and golfers would say, absolutely!

And this dual passion for “golf and good” has served as motivation for this group to work hard at lowering their golf scores while all the while raising funds for worthy causes.

They would point to their faith in God and their life orientation of blessing and serving others as their motivation. These values have led them to assisting homeless families and children, those displaced by Hurricane Harvey, and most recently adopting the children of 19 families from the Lewisville ISD Angel Tree.

Jim Mustain, Executive Director of Loving Community says, “Generosity like this brings great good and partnering in our community. The funds assisted Alison Stamey and her team working with the LISD Angel Tree. The shopping was done by students of Elite Learning Academy in Coppell. And finally the Lewisville HS Student Council delivered the gifts. Hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hands represents the adage that we are, better together!”

Tanner would be quick to give credit to his fellow golfers on the contribution committee including Jay Arthur, Buddy Brasseaux, Bill Hobgood, Joe Kilgo, Ronny Park and Kambiz Vahdani.

Loving Community’s Good Neighbor award is sponsored by Gaylene Anders of Ebby Halliday Realtors in honor of Ebby Halliday Acers who consistently modeled her life on the principle of “Do something for someone everyday”.
